Jack Hartmann | Colonel Jack Hartmann A distant relative of top Luftwaffe World War II fighter ace Erich Hartmann, Jack Hartmann was commissioned in the USAF in June 1962. After a period with the 307th TFS, inNovember 1965 Jack was posted to the Bien Hoa Air Base in South Vietnam with the 308th TFS flying the F-100D. He undertook the first of his 210 combat missions on 15th November, and was flight leader on 40 of those missions. After completing his tour in Vietnam, he was F-100 instructor with the 4517th CCTS at Luke AFB, Arizona. After the service, he spent 31 years as a pilot with TWA. |
