Jenson Button | Jenson Button Formula One World Champion 2009. Driving for the Brawn team in their first and only season in the sport as an independent team, his early season domination proved too much for his rivals to overcome and he claimed the Drivers Championship with a race to spare. With his team-mate Rubens Barrichello, he also secured the Constructors Championship for the team - a historic double for a debutant team. |

On Top of the World by Ray Goldsbrough. Jenson Button winning the 2009 Monaco Grand Prix. Driving for the Brawn GP team Jenson dominated the first half of the season winning six of the opening seven races of the campaign. This early season form gave Jenson a significant lead in the Drivers Championship which was ultimately too much for his rivals to overturn. The 2009 season was not only a memorable one for Jenson Button but also for his team Brawn GP. In what later transpired to be their only season as an independent team in Formula One, Brawn GP created history by winning both the Drivers and Constructors Championships at the first attempt. Following a takeover by Mercedes-Benz in November 2009 Brawn GP will be rebranded as Mercedes Grand Prix for the 2010 season. |
