Serving as a Medical Orderly attached to 1st Battalion Princess of Waless Royal Regiment, 19-year-old Private Michelle Norris climbs onto a Warrior armoured vehicle, under sustained sniper fire, to treat the gravely wounded commander. The Lonely Battle by David Pentland. Helmand Province, Afghanistan, March 2010. The Counter Improvised Explosive Device Task Force was originally composed of Royal Logistical Corps EOD, Pioneer, and Royal Engineer teams. Currently the C-IED task force is a tri service formation including units from the Royal Navy and RAF. The most dangerous part of their work involves locating and isolating IED's before they explode, in this case making roads safe to use. |
