Snow at Seven Barrows by Peter Curling. This winter scene shows the great trainer Nicky Henderson's string of high class jumpers exercising on winter's morning at Seven Barrows in Lambourn, Berkshire. Seven Barrows is a famous stable from which many top class horses have been trained; Peter Walwyn was the previous trainer here and Grundy was trained to win the Derby on these gallops. Peter Walwyn was also a great encouragement to Peter Curling when he was starting out as an artist and it was at this location that the young artist first felt the excitement of seeing horses at work in the early morning. |
